Your Skincare Routine - The Basics For Every Day

But first, do you know your skin type?

Knowing your skin type is important because it helps you to select the correct products for your skin type.

Normal skin is neither dry nor oily; it always feels normal. Dry skin feels tight and dry in all face areas and can also feel rough to the touch. Oily skin, on the other hand, always feels greasy and looks shiny in all areas of the face. A combination skin typically feels greasy and oily on the T-zone but dry on the cheeks.

Skincare products are formulated for different skin types. If you have oily skin, you should use products with a lighter feel and not add more oil to your skin. On the other hand, dry skin will require more nourishment, so you would use products formulated for dry skin types that include plant oils to replenish the dry skin type.

Your Skincare Essentials

Your basic skincare routine is fundamental for maintaining your healthy skin. So, what does a good morning and nighttime routine include?

Your Morning Skincare Routine:

  1. Start your day by gently cleansing your face to remove any impurities or excess oil.

  2. Apply a toner to balance your skin’s pH levels and prepare it for the next steps.

  3. Use a serum with ingredients like vitamin C or hyaluronic acid to target specific concerns (e.g., brightening, hydration).

  4. Apply eye cream to the delicate skin around the eyes to keep the skin protected.

  5. Hydrate your skin with a moisturizer suitable for your skin type.

  6. Apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from UV rays.

Your Nighttime Skincare Routine:

  1. If you wear makeup, start by removing it using a gentle makeup remover.

  2. Cleanse your face thoroughly to remove dirt, oil, and pollutants.

  3. Prep your skin with a toner or an essence for the best absorption of nighttime treatment serum.

  4. If you’re using retinol, apply it in the evening. Retinol helps with cell turnover and anti-aging.

  5. Apply an eye cream gently around the eye area.

  6. Hydrate your skin with a richer moisturizer or a dedicated night cream.
